Marisa Ramirez speaks about her research and survey results investigating whether publishers consider electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) prior publications.

Ramirez is primarily responsible for the development and implementation of the DigitalCommons@CalPoly, a digital repository that provides online open access to scholarship and research produced by Cal Poly faculty and students. She collaborates with academic departments and administrative units across campus to bring new visibility to Cal Poly scholarly, intellectual and creative work.

In this talk, Ms. Ramirez describes the survey results that lead to proceedings at the NDLTD 2011 Conference in Cape Town, South Africa and USETDA 2013 conference i Claremont, California and to the publication, "Do Open Access Electronic Theses and Dissertations Diminish Publishing Opportunities in the Social Sciences and Humanities? Findings from a 2011 Survey of Academic Publishers."
