Abstract

This article, published in UnderWords: Perspectives on Don DeLillo’s Underworld (ed. Joseph Dewey and Steven Kellman; University of Delaware Press/Associated University Presses, 2002), argues that the primary historical logic of Don DeLillo’s Underworld is one of unmaking, revealing not history’s construction but its deconstruction. This article was singled out for praise in Jerome Klinkowitz’s review essay on the contemporary period in American Literary Scholarshop 2002 (p. 359).
