Exhibit/Collection Name

Brown Eyed Girl

Creation Date

2016

Description

At the opening of my show I did a performance in which I blew up forty beach balls with hookah smoke. The act of inhaling smoke to inflate beach balls took two and a half hours. My body was struck with nausea, dizziness and blurred vision. The smoke was repurposed as matter, with my lungs as the transformative force. I wanted to see what it meant for me to use a symbol associated with the culture of the Middle East to fill the room with beach balls.
