Abstract
This thesis will aim to understand the economic impact of removing access to abortion by comparing economic outcomes in states that banned abortion with those that did not ban abortion following the Dobbs V. Jackson Supreme Court decision. By using data from the Consumer Population Survey, I created a model to estimate the impact of banning abortion on metrics such as unemployment rate and labor force participation rate. My model indicated that banning abortion in these states did have a statistically significant impact on female economic outcomes, indicating that banning abortion decreased female labor force participation rate and increased the unemployment rate for Black women in states that banned abortion in the 2 years following the Dobbs decision.
