On the Dynamics of a Shell in a Testing Machine

Abstract
The dynamic response of an initially imperfect circular cylinder to a load applied with constant velocity is considered. It is shown that the governing equation is essentially the same as the non-linear equation given by Hoff for the dynamic buckling of columns.
