Abstract
This thesis contains the scores that I have spent the past four years composing and my notes on that compositional process. These works include a Sonata for Violin and Piano, a vocal piece accompanied by cello and piano with lyrics from a poem by Emily Dickinson titled "It Was Not Death for I Stood Up", an acapella choral piece with lyrics from Adelaide Crapsey's poem "November Night", a three movement string quartet, a solo piano piece, and an electronic music piece in the style of musique concrète compiled and edited on Digital Performer. This document accompanies a virtual recital that was released online for the Scripps community.
