Abstract
This thesis finds that increased popularity and participation in modern conservative populist movements -- like Tea Party, Trump's presidential campaigns, and the Capitol Insurrection of January 6th, 2021 -- leads to spikes both the number of active hate groups in the United States and hate crime occurrences.
