Abstract
This paper explores the complexities of authorship and representation in video game development in context to the author's thesis game. Indie games provide space for marginalized voices shown through the case studies Celeste, Coming Out Simulator, and Depression Quest. This paper interrogates the tension between authentic storytelling and the commodification of marginalized experiences.
