Abstract

As large companies continue to embrace representational diversity as their standard for inclusion in the workplace, marginalized individuals are being harmed. Representational diversity fails to properly address the relationship between dominantly and marginally situated knowers in the workplace. Representational diversity encourages marginalized individuals to relate to the dominant group in order to succeed. Practices of epistemic injustice avoidance allow marginalized individuals to personally succeed. Through this relation in order to succeed model, marginalized individuals perpetuate their own oppression and increase the hermeneutical injustice faced by their group.
