Description/Abstract
In her Reflective Essay, the author describes the moment she found her thesis while browsing the book shelves of the Claremont Colleges Library. She also acknowledges the valuable contributions of librarians, collections, interlibrary loan, and online resources to the success of her historical research on a subject where primary sources are difficult to find. This study explores the history of Spanish women in prostitution from the beginning of the Restoration in 1874 to the end of the Spanish Civil War in 1939. That history intersects with a network of processes, including industrialization, urbanization, and political radicalization.
