Abstract
This thesis analyzes the strength of regulation of hate speech on Facebook and Twitter. I examine each company's policy on hate speech, the existing research on the regulation of online hate, and possible tools for countering hate speech. I follow each tool with my own analysis, discussing the benefits and disadvantages of each tool in the battle against hate. Finally, I conclude with a reflection highlighting the most effective tools and discussing the responsibility of the platforms, the government, and the users in mitigating online hate speech.
