Abstract
This thesis analyzes the potential effects on a conflict trade embargo on the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It will begin by outlining the history of the conflict since 1996, the various armed actors, and their connection to the DR Congo’s natural resource endowment. From there, this thesis will then introduce various scholarly work and theories relating civil conflicts to natural resources. It will then use those different theories to predict the different effects of ending the conflict trade in the country.
