Abstract
Climate change poses a threat to the lives and livelihoods of people around the world. It is already beginning to make some parts of the world unlivable, forcing some to migrate. As climate change intensifies, more climate refugees, as they are called, will arise. This paper argues that colonial empires such as those of Western Europe and the United States have a moral obligation to aid climate refugees as a form of reparations for colonial exploitation and reconciliation for their disproportionate damage to the environment.
