Abstract

This study closely analyzes the effects the 2008 Housing Crisis had on the United States, China, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Germany. The study leverages data from the FRED and utilizes regression analysis and difference-in-differences estimators to properly weigh the inter-dimensional effects of housing prices, M2, M3, prime loan rates and home equity loans from 2000-2015. The study finds that log translated housing prices are heavily swayed by the aforementioned variables.

This thesis is restricted to the Claremont Colleges current faculty, students, and staff.
