Abstract

Following the pandemic, the second-hand clothing industry has had a substantial economic and cultural impact on the fashion industry. The fast fashion model has been detrimental to the ESG (environmental, social, and governance) factors of the fashion industry and this nuance in fashion has created a more sustainable way to shop for clothes. The vintage clothing industry takes the old and makes it new. It finds value in the rarity of an item, the quality of clothing, and the historical significance. Shopping sustainably has become the newest trend and invites consumers to promote a more equitable future through reusing and recycling. The goal of this documentary is to highlight the second-hand clothing industry in Los Angeles, California and draw attention to the value of shopping vintage and the industry professionals who make it all happen.
