Abstract
This thesis examines the impact of blockchain technology on the profitability of businesses. The study assesses the impact of companies implementing blockchain in their inventory management practices compared to those that do not. The sample size comprises 108 companies listed in the S&P 500 index from 2016 to 2022, of which 26 have integrated blockchain into their inventory management practices. The data for this research was gathered from S&P Capital IQ. To analyze the impact of blockchain, a fixed effects model was used on this panel dataset. The findings indicate a positive relationship between a higher inventory turnover and higher profitability, and this association is even stronger for companies that have integrated blockchain into their inventory management practices.
