Abstract

Through analysis of the complex history of South Korea-Japan relations, this thesis uses constructivism to shed light on the wavering cycles of cooperation and conflict in present-day ROK-Japan bilateral ties, paving a way towards a further understanding of social constructivism and the need to acknowledge emotions, identities, and memory to foster cooperation in foreign policymaking.

This thesis is restricted to the Claremont Colleges current faculty, students, and staff.
