Abstract
The animation industry currently lacks standardized tooling with functionality that would allow users to meaningfully explore and interact with a large volume and variety of assets. Paramount Animation seeks to fill this gap and build a next-generation asset browser that is designed to meet modern user needs and optimize every part of the animation pipeline. This clinic project seeks to design and prototype an asset browser for feature film development that accommodates Paramount Animation’s workflow. An asset browser equipped with intelligent search and analytic capabilities enables artists and filmmakers to smoothly navigate the studio’s animation assets. Building a production-ready version of the asset browser is beyond the scope of Clinic; rather, this work is meant to be exploratory. The scope of this project included conducting user experience research, designing an interface, and building a prototype of the final design.
