Abstract
Web browsers get their information using the current version of the Hypertext Transfer Protocol, HTTP/2, which is limited by the TCP/IP transport protocol. A new version, HTTP/3, uses the QUIC protocol, which introduces new approaches that promise measurable performance improvements over HTTP/2. However, it is hard to determine if the theoretical benefits of HTTP/3 will translate in the real world. In this project, we built a testing framework to measure the protocols’ actual behavior, especially with regard to how mobile users experience the Internet, and then quantified the performance differences between the two standards
