Abstract
I examine narratives from authoritative Roman Catholic texts like scripture, hagiography, and patristic texts to identify a legacy of inadequate pastoral responses to survivors of sexual violence. This study culminates in a contemporary case study of clerical sexual abuse in the Boston Archdiocese in the early 2000s as reported on by the Boston Globe.
