Abstract
This thesis looks at the gig economy as an example of a larger pattern of destandardization of work across the U.S. It takes a deep dive into the case of Amazon Flex, a smartphone application that connects drivers with gigs to deliver packages for Amazon. Looking at Reddit posts from the subreddit r/AmazonFlexDrivers, I make a case for a future of work that doesn’t leave gig workers in the same precarious and insecure situations they are in now.
