Abstract

This thesis is an evaluation of Study Buddies, or EstudiAmigos in Spanish -- a free, all-volunteer tutoring program that I co-founded in Sonoma County in August 2020. In this investigation, I use interview data with 10 program participants, including tutors, students, families, and my fellow organizers, to analyze how Study Buddies meets and doesn't meet the priorities of its participants. I use this interview data, combined with theoretical research, to propose potential changes to this organization for it to better serve its members and the surrounding community. This analysis is the first step in a more thorough examination of the program and its successes and challenges.
