Abstract
What is the role of the museum? How does it impact the way history is constructed and understood? And how is it possible to confront and dismantle the colonialism that is engrained within the way it functions? Armed with the weapons of parody and humor Payómkowishum/ Luiseño, Ipi, and Mexican American artist James Luna and Apsàalooke artist Wendy Red Star re-present the colonial visual language of the vitrine and diorama, unsettling colonialism in the museum and seizing the means to their own representations.
