Abstract
The ongoing transformations within the U.S. healthcare landscape, notably influenced by the Affordable Care Act, have spotlighted the trend of hospital consolidation. This thesis explores the ramifications of mergers and acquisitions within the hospital sector, particularly focusing on their impact on the cost, access, and quality of patient care. Through a detailed analysis of multiple case studies and stakeholder interviews, this research provides critical insights into the consequences of consolidation post-Obamacare. Findings indicate a complex interaction between market power and healthcare delivery, suggesting both potential benefits and significant drawbacks.
