Abstract
Abstract
Zombie Tales is a collection of three short stories that navigate different aspects of the zombie narrative. “Break Protocol!” is set at the onset of a zombie apocalypse and grapples with the relationships between alive and turned loved ones. The story asks what survivors are willing to do for their zombie loved ones. “Zombies vs the Living” centers around surviving communities and the function of children’s play in those spaces. The story imagines a time of normality and everyday life amongst an apocalyptic future. While “Awaken” centers a zombie protagonist and its experience consuming brains. The story disrupts the focus on humans and reconstructs the experience of the monster. Overall, the collection is an exploration of the tropes and possibilities of zombie fiction.
