Abstract
This thesis covers the process of researching, writing, and developing The Purimspiel: A Compilation Play. This playwrighting project explores the dissonance between the cultural memory of the Jewish holiday Purim and the holiday’s long-documented association with Jewish violence and vengeance as it connects to the modern questions of Jewish identity in the wake of the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
