Abstract
Through engaging in humor and irony, the narrative-driven work creates a scene inspiring joy and engagement among viewers. The piece entitled Beverleigh takes key influences from queer art history and gender theory to convey messages of exclusion in the queer experience. By approaching narratives of despair with joy and humor, the piece combats current political rhetoric characterizing a queer experience as undesirable and abject.
