Abstract
This editorial offers a perspective on the role of laughter and the comedic arts through the trope of the Fool or Jester. Comedic arts not just speak truth to power through the ages; it also offers society hope, resilience, and resistance though counter narratives that make us laugh at "emperors without clothes".
