Abstract
banks to form partnerships. This paper examines the impact on key indicators of bank profitability for those banks that chose to partner with leading P2P lending platform, LendingClub. Using panel banking data from 2007Q1-2018Q4 I estimate regression models on loan growth and deposit growth. I find that partner banks experienced negative loan growth while their deposits trended upwards. This paper illustrates the new credit market dynamics and potential approaches to partnerships in response to the changing competitive landscape.
