Abstract
Across the United States, housing prices have been increasing. Additionally, income inequality has been growing, especially in cities. I examine the economic impact of income inequality and unemployment on housing prices at the city level. I find that higher incomes lead to higher real estate prices at the city level. Furthermore, I find that additional rich white or Asian families increase home values. This outcome is important for both politicians and corporations who aim to provide affordable housing for constituents and employees respectively.
