Abstract
Electric vehicles are increasing in popularity due to changes in consumer preferences and proposed upcoming legislation in favor of adopting electric vehicles. The automotive industry is undergoing a transformation. This thesis investigates if announcements concerning electric vehicles made by traditional automakers lead to an abnormal return in their stock price. The findings were not statistically significant enough to conclude genuine abnormality was occurring. These findings suggest that the stock market inherently prices these announcements into their respective stock prices.
