Abstract
This objective of this thesis is to compile an overview of the movement of Nazi looted art into the ABC (Argentina, Brazil, and Chile) countries, more focused in Argentina because it is the only one among them that contains a broader range of information on the subject. Chapter 1 and 2 will be serve as background of South America in the broader context of World War Two. Chapter 3 will focus on the context that made South America an ideal destiny for looted assets. Chapter 4 analyses examples where those assets were brought over to South America. The conclusion will demonstrate the consequences that affect still to this day the continual choice of ‘silence.’ The objective behind each chapter is to demonstrate the different mechanisms that not only resulted in Nazi looted assets in South America, but also continues to dissipate the policy of ‘silence.
