Abstract
This paper explores the paradox that develops between the US government and the American people when the Government expands its power. This expansion of power is necessary as we grow and face new societal problems, but when that power grows, the American people have gotten increasingly mistrustful. Whether the government expansion is for the better or not, or absolutely necessary, people will always be mistrustful of government.
