Abstract
California’s Local Control Funding Formula has shown much progress as the state’s current school funding system. By providing a set level of base funding, as well as additional funding for high-need students, the state has sought to overcome disparities in funding between low and high wealth school districts. This paper seeks to understand whether the Local Control Funding Formula has been effective at addressing the issue of equity among school districts and how it has impacted the local school community by building on previous school funding legislation and reforms.
