Abstract

This thesis advocates for a nuanced understanding of the School-To-Prison Nexus, emphasizing how multiple systems interact to create hyper-vulnerabilty for immigrant students in the United States. Specifically, the thesis uses crimmigration frameworks to show how racialization and criminalization produces gang databases. Through a blend of historical analysis, empirical data, and real-life narratives, the research contributes to a broader conversation on dismantling punitive systems within the educational landscape and fostering an environment that safeguards the well-being of all students.

This thesis is restricted to the Claremont Colleges current faculty, students, and staff.
