Abstract
The importance of democracy is how we have governed our lives. Assuming it to be the best method to govern people. Why choose a monarchy that consolidates power into the hands of a singular entity? Why choose an oligarchy that leaves out the many for the advantage of the few? Democracy’s unique tradition is the simple fact that its motivation is to account for the many and give voices in the most egalitarian way possible. This paper, although acknowledging the flexibility of democracy, highlights its pitfalls as democracies attempt to accommodate voices that are aligned with ethnic identity and not aligned with ideology.
