Abstract
"Bound Fast" is a poetry collection centered around the natural world. Inspired by the writings of John Muir and Transcendentalists, I decided to write about nature and how human relationships reminds me of the natural world. Many of these poems draw upon and fictionalize things I have experienced and, as such, they are an extension and exaggeration of reality.
This collection is illustrated, as I see poetry and art to fit together in symbiosis. The artworks are all my own and were created using watercolor pencils. Most of them feature an image central to the poems they accompany.
Ultimately, I hope this poetry collection captures the beauty and complexities of nature, just as painter does with a canvas. I invite readers to pause and reflect on their own relationships with the natural world while they read my work.
Content warning: Some poems contain descriptions of self-harming behavior, bodily fluids, and addiction. Please read with care.
